Since going onto Dialysis, we have been away several times, and the holiday units have usually been very good. At Guernsey in particular, you are not only made welcome, but the atmosphere is jovial as well. The staff are so friendly towards each other, as well as to the visitors. Well worth a visit! The Island is good too. Peaceful and relaxing, with lovely cliff walks. Several attractions to visit, and plenty of craft shops of all types. In all, a very good holiday.

If you want a relaxing holiday, then Guernsey is the place for you. It has a beautiful coastline, nice restraunts, kiosks and some places of interest to visit. Holiday dialysis is provided by the main hospital on the island in the most friendly and efficient manner and by the most professional of staff who make you and your family feel welcome. If you are nervous about dialysing away from home then this is the place for you. You could not be afforded a calmer, friendly, easy going and professional treatment.

Hospital excellent, location excellent, staff excellent, all first class. Guernsey is pretty and peaceful if lacking in amenities. A perfect place for a relaxing quiet holiday.

The unit is modern, air conditioned and easy to reach by car or bus. The nursing staff are professional, friendly and reassuring and keen to hear about the patients' own experiences of dialysis at home. The pleasant and relaxing atmosphere make the prospect of dialysis away from home less daunting than it might have been - the filter coffee and hot croissants are an added bonus! I am very much looking forward to my next holiday in Guernsey and dialysis at the Guernsey renal unit. Highly Recommended! |

Holidays away while on dialysis can be a daunting prospect. Our two weeks in Guernsey have been excellent. All the staff at the Guernsey renal unit were so friendly and welcoming that the dialysis was never a problem. This small intimate unit manage a very relaxed atmosphere and we felt so at home that we would recommend it to anyone on dialysis who needs a break. During our stay we had lots of time at the beach and took in many of the attractions this beautiful island has to offer. All this and only a short flight from outhampton offers the balance of being away but not too far away from home.

Hooray for the renal unit at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital!! This dedicated band made the renal part of our holiday 'fun' instead of the usual chore. Guernsey, though small, has so much to offer - places to visit, beautiful beaches and friendly helpful people. We feel sad to be going home. Thankyou to everyone who has made our holiday special.

The staff were very humorous and professional, the unit itself was very well maintained and exceptionally hygenic. We had trouble with the lack of signposts on the island and the weather wasn't that great but that certainly won't diminish the will to come back next year!!

Guernsey is the most beautiful island especially for individuals who like to walk, swim and visit the surrounding islands. The weather is good and the people are friendly. There is an excellent inexpensive, bus service. The flowers are plentiful and an absolute picture. The dialysis unit is small, efficient, immaculately clean and very, very friendly. Croissants are offered for breakfast and nothing is too much trouble. I enjoy my ‘session’ at the unit and there is always entertaining conversation. It is my second visit to Guernsey and I would recommend it to anyone.

We found the staff all very friendly and that they really care for their patients. We will certainly return to Guernsey as we liked the island very much and find it very friendly and it has superb views.

I found the renal unit pleasant, compact and clean. The staff were all friendly, happy and interested in all the patients, regulars and visitors to this lovely island, which is absolutely beautiful. There is plenty to do on such a small and interesting island. The recent history of the German occupation, also little arts and crafts shops dotted around all over the place so keep your eyes open! Needless to say, the restaurants have a French atmosphere. The food and the drink in the unit is way above standard when compared to some of the hospitals in England, especially Rosie’s tea!! If possible I will come and visit this charming place again, God willing. Thanks to all the renal staff from a very happy visitor. |

The unit has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The patients and staff make you feel welcome and at home. With the added bonus of island born staff who are able to give top tips on where to eat out, what to visit and explain the mysteries of the language, road signs and road works!

We have been dialysing for 26 years and we have had several holidays in that time. My husband has always been well looked after and our holidays have always been enjoyed but we have found Guernsey to be our favourite place. The unit is very relaxed and the standard of care is high. The staff and patients get on well together and we immediately felt as if we ‘belonged’. The island is lovely with superb beaches and we have really enjoyed our time here. We can’t fault Guernsey Dialysis Unit…thanks for a really good holiday!

I have been on dialysis for just over three years and I am not going to say it’s easy. Good things have come out of this illness, it has made me tougher and I have met a lot of nice people some whom I now call friends. Our unit is lovely. We get visitors coming from other dialysis units and most of them like our unit because it is relaxed. To me, this is a must because a relaxed atmosphere puts the patients at ease (plus we have good needlers which makes me more relaxed! Especially if you don’t like needles). We are well looked after catering wise and the staff go out of their way to get us special treats from time to time. We have music and television and videos so you don’t really notice the time go by. To me there has always been a breath of fresh air in the unit and I am sure that will continue. By the way it will help if you like football, the boys are crazy about it, and it will help even more if you support Liverpool!
